FIFTH INTERNATIONAL MEETING OF HUMANITARIAN AND MILITARY RIGHTS

Summit of military justice institutions, lawyers, judges and specialists in Military and Police Justice. Organized by the International Association of Military Justices (AIJM) and Military and Police Jurisdiction of Peru. The meeting Will be held in Lima from 26 to 28 April 2011.

PRESENTATION
The Military and Police Jurisdiction of Peru and the International Association of Military Justices (AIJM ), organized the Fifth International Meeting of Humanitarian and Military Rights as part of a global agenda that seeks to contribute to the legal update and strengthen the Military Justices in the world.
Military justice systems exist and develop according to their particularities in each national situation, but they share the obligation to ensure discipline, moral quality and efficiency of those who are part of the military and police or security forces of each country, by the administration of specialized justice. And only on that way democratic states can be assured of disciplined forces, with unblemished ethics to protects its internal and external security against common enemies such as international terrorism, drug trafficking and outbreaks of violence and domestic crime.
As all living and dynamic entity the military justices, of unquestionable validity in the justice systems of nations, face new and urgent challenges that motivate continuous updating and optimization of its legal basis, as we have seen in recent years , in which many countries are rethinking and / or reorganizing its military justice mechanisms according to their own realities and idiosyncrasies. As a result consolidates everywhere, the validity of military justice with a strength that feeds the intense legal debate that exists today in national, regional and global forums.
In this context, and similar to previous meetings, the V Meeting aims to enrich the legal universe of modern, transparent and independent military justice, that incorporate the criteria and mandates of the Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law. In this way will strengthen the military justice that will become more efficient and effective to serve the higher purposes of security and defense.
OBJECTIVES
Generate contributions from the perspective of Military Justice, to strengthen the Armed Forces and Police as guarantors of security and order in a framework of respect for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law.
Encourage a broad debate on the situation of military justice in the international context and propose options for strengthening the aspects relating to their jurisdiction and institutions.
METHODOLOGY
The program will run in seven thematic groups working through the modality of specialized panel moderator.
Participants may send its comments or questions by writing.
The duration of each conference is 120 minutes.
After the meeting the participants will receive a printed copy and / or digital presentations and conclusions
